In March of 1948 three business partners from the Bay Area pooled together their resources and formed Cascade Metals, a steel fabrication company. Majority stockholder Victor Erickson sold his prize Buick car, his gun, and even his overcoat to get every penny needed at the time to start the company. In 1963, when Cascade's leadership decided to focus predominantly on fabrication, Vic decided to branch out on his own founding Globe-Pacific, Inc., which soon became one of the leading distributors of stainless steel products in the Santa Clara Valley. That same year Vic's son Dave Erickson started working at Globe-Pacific, Inc. as the janitor. Dave took over the company in the mid-1990's after his father's retirement to continue the family business. Dave and Karyl Erickson owned and operated Globe-Pacific, Inc. until 2013 when the company was acquired by Columbia Specialty Company, a wholesale distributor of pipe, valves, and fittings headquartered in Long Beach, CA.
